Orenco Systems, Inc.

Orenco Systems, Inc. was founded in 1981 and is a globally leading manufacturer and technology provider of wastewater collection and treatment equipment systems, as well as wastewater reuse solutions, currently employing nearly 500 people. Orenco is committed to manufacturing and promoting innovative and low-carbon wastewater treatment systems and solutions suitable for decentralized applications. Orenco systems feature extremely low energy consumption, can be powered by renewable energy (e.g., solar) or grid electricity, and offer robust performance, minimal maintenance requirements, and cost advantages. Their equipment and systems have been widely installed in over 70 countries worldwide, making them ideal for the needs and usage of independent communities and small municipalities. Compared to traditional gravity collection and aeration treatment, Orenco systems demonstrate significant lifecycle cost savings; due to their high efficiency, ultra-low energy consumption, and renewable energy compatibility, they are also recognized as exemplary wastewater treatment technologies for zero-carbon communities and can qualify for LEED certification. Orenco’s key product systems include:

Prelos Liquid Wastewater Pretreatment System:
The liquid wastewater system utilizes passive solids digestion in on-site pretreatment tanks. The liquid portion of the wastewater is then pumped downstream via small-diameter pipes buried shallowly along the terrain using low-horsepower pumps. The reduced solids and wastewater strength in these primary tanks allow downstream treatment plants to be drastically scaled down. Solids require extraction only every 10-12 years.

The Prelos system reduces the size of downstream treatment plants. Passive solids digestion eliminates the need for active sludge management at treatment facilities. Small-diameter pipes for liquid wastewater can be installed shallowly along ground contours using lightweight construction equipment, avoiding road disruption and restoration. Sewer networks can be extended to developing urban-rural fringe communities without upgrading municipal treatment plants. Sealed liquid wastewater pipes are unaffected by stormwater or sea-level rise.

AdvanTex Wastewater Treatment Unit:
AdvanTex is a compact packed-bed secondary treatment unit. It uses advanced engineered textile materials to maximize surface area, enabling beneficial aerobic bacteria to polish effluent with minimal chemical dosing. Upstream primary tanks passively digest settled solids, with only liquid effluent flowing to the AdvanTex system. The AdvanTex system can be modularly expanded, with configurations tailored to meet stringent nitrogen limits. The AdvanTex system consumes extremely low energy per cubic meter of wastewater treated, delivers reliable and robust performance to meet strict regulatory standards, requires minimal maintenance without highly skilled operators, produces final effluent reusable for irrigation, toilet flushing, dust suppression, and more, and easily handles low flows, surges, and fluctuating loads. The AdvanTex system qualifies for LEED certification.
